The Picture Company Experience + Giveaway

I’ve been telling Dennis that we had to schedule a photo shoot for the family because every time I am asked to send a family picture, I have such a hard time finding one that’s profile-pic worthy.  It’s either one of us is behind the camera, or one of us looks blah, or the kids are too sweaty from playing….or whoever took the potentially-good shot moved!

The last time we had really good family shots taken was when I was just about to give birth to Isaiah, and now he’s almost a year old already. There’s just been too many things that have happened this year that the months went by so fast, and I also just ask favors from my photographer friends, so I really do not like to hassle them too much (a little, pwede… hehe).

So it was really exciting for me when I found out we would be having a photo session with The Picture Company. 🙂 I’ve always wanted to try their services!

I’d be showing you what the highlights for me were, but before I do, let me share with you some of the things I learned from the experience.

I have to say, I realized that I am such an amateur when it comes to these shoots! It was a good thing that as soon as I gave my preferred schedule, the assigned photographer, Ruth, contacted me right away. They asked for my kids’ individual personalities so they could be the ones to look for pegs for us. That gave us an idea of how the shoot will be like, as well as what we had to wear.

Okay, back to what I learned about having photo shoots with your kids:

1. Prepare early.

We were out a lot the past few days prior to our shoot that I had to cram when I was trying to decide what sets of clothes to use for the shoot. If we had a lot of options, this wouldn’t be a problem….but we don’t….so…… no, don’t cram.

2. Be realistic.

You’re with KIDS. Meaning, the whole thing can get pretty unpredictable. We had to have nursing breaks and snack breaks…..so we took longer than we should have. I brought extra sets of clothes, but we ended up using only one! Haha!

3. Let the kids sleep early.

4. Make sure the kids are well-fed.

Numbers three and four are very, very important.

5. Relax and enjoy!

This isn’t a serious production. This is a part of building memories. Sure, you want your pictures to be perfect—with smiles and all, but more important are the stories behind the smiles. 🙂

Our photographer Ruth did such an awesome job. She was really so patient with us. It was a feat trying to get all the kids to look at the camera and smile at the same time, but Ruth was so cheerful and relaxed the whole time! She wasn’t just a good photographer, she was great with the kids, too. 🙂
