Househelp Cleaning Tips + Cif Giveaway

Lately I have been wanting to do some deep cleaning around the house, more particularly in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Unlike our closets and bedrooms, where it is relatively easy to spot what needs cleaning, these two areas in the house can be quite deceiving. We usually go about doing our routine in the kitchen and bathrooms, faithfully doing some cleaning along the way, and we think it’s enough. More often than not, we are actually able to make these places look clean enough. BUT somewhere along the corners of those walls and floors….somewhere inside those cupboards….somewhere over and under those appliances…somewhere under those counters and sink…. somewhere ….anywhere …everywhere ….there will always be some deep cleaning that still needs to be done. There will always be that “eew” factor that we have to overcome.

Here are some reminders to help you with those “eew”- factor contributors:

1. Use the top-to-bottom approach. It is best to clean the cupboards above the counters and work your way down to the floor.

2. Since we will be handling food in the kitchen, it is best to maintain it with all-natural, food-grade products such as a vinegar solution. A vinegar solution can be made just by mixing equal parts of vinegar and hot water.

3. The three magic ingredients in the kitchen are: vinegar, lemon, and baking soda. They are GREAT at disinfecting AND removing odors.

4. Have separate cleaners (brushes/sponges/cloths) for each area (we don’t want all that bacteria to travel!).

5. Bleach is powerful in  removing mildew and molds in the bathroom and in tiles.

There, that’s five. For the past few years I have lived with these five tricks.

….Until a few weeks ago, when Cif gave me some of their stuff to try out. Since then, I guess you could say that the Cif Cream surface cleaner has been the star of our cleaning world. Stubborn, dried-up stains on different surfaces can easily be removed with this non-scratch cleaner.

Here are photos of the sample stains and surfaces where Cif could be used:
