Thinking About Homeschooling?

Lately my mind has been preoccupied with activities I can do with the kids here at home. I’ve already made a decision to homeschool the girls, but it won’t be until they turn seven when I actually need to enroll them formally. This means that for the mean time, I could use the extra cash (well, technically it still cannot be considered extra, but adding that word makes me feel better) to buy materials or curricula (once I do get to decide which ones to use).

Before you start to think that I’m one disciplined mom who consistently comes up with creative stuff for her kids to do, I am here to tell you upfront that I am so not that kind of mom. Being some sort of a nerd, I tend to go through so much information and references, trying to take in as much as possible, and this has actually become a hindrance for me in terms of just going and doing something. I’ve been trying to fight this side of me, and I would like to think that I am making some progress in this area, but I know I still have a lot to work on.

I will let you know if I become better in this whole lesson-planning, curriculum-making, and actually-teaching gig. I promise to share whatever notes I have with you!

    I’m a single mom who works full time and I’ve homeschooled my son for 6yrs now (kinder-5thgrade).

    I use abeka academy program. It really helps coz my son is able to watch lessons while I’m working and it takes the pressure off of me having to be super hands on, especially if my boss is asking me to do errands.

    Homeschooling has it’s own challenge but the rewards are so worth it :)

    I’ve heard good reviews from Abeka. :) My laptop crashed so I haven’t been able to look through different curricula as planned, but I’ll be sure to learn more about Abeka, too! Thanks for sharing! :)
